PRESIDENT EMMERSON MNANGAGWA HIRES A LUXURIOUS PRIVATE JET TO CHINA, abandoning ‘Mazarura airways’ a.k.a Air Zimbabwe (AirZim) . The plane is identified online as A/C type B767-200, registration number P4 CLA, a luxurious plane from Bahrain, owned by Switzerland-based Comlux Aviation.
 
Mnangagwa’s was accompanied by an entourage which included about 10 ministers and businessmen.
 
Mnangagwa is said to have paid more than $1 million for the luxury hire.
 
Mazarura a.k.a AirZim’s old fleet is made up of two Boeing 767s, three 737s, three MA60s and two Airbus A320s planes but only four of these planes are in service. The four that are still flying are an airbus, a Boeing 767, a 737 and an MA60 for the airline which is losing US$3 million a month,and owing tens of millions in debt arrears.
 
Recently a damning report by the portfolio committee on Transport and Infrastructural Development, listed frequent radio breakdown , and at times, the airline pilots having to use raise controllers by mobile, while basic equipment such as microphones and handsets are in a sorry state and in short supply with no backup communication systems in the event of a breakdown of equipment.
